SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

”Fortunately, the same immense energies that create the symptoms of trauma, … can transform the trauma and propel us into new heights of healing, mastery, and even wisdom.” - Dr. Peter Levine

Resolve Anxiety, Stress and Trauma with

Somatic Experiencing®

The nervous system stores past experiences, and at times this creates anxiety, tension in the body, and unhelpful automatic responses to situations. Somatic Experiencing allows you to release deeply stored emotions, anxiety and fear that cause these reactions, which are often not influenced by our rational thinking.

Somatic Experiencing works in two ways. The first is to help you recognize your body’s response to stress, and the second way is through the cultivation of self-regulatory skills. Adequate coping skills build resilience to stress, and help us reduce or eliminate long-term effects of stressful states on the body.

By gently allowing the body to release charges (i.e. stress) from past experiences or emotions, it helps to relieve the physical, emotional and physiological effects of stress and trauma. As you learn to re-balance your nervous system, you create the foundation for physical, mental and emotional health.

Somatic Experiencing helps you to regain a sense of empowerment by learning to experience the body’s natural ability to calm itself after strong emotions or activation. This allows you to be more present and open to new possibilities.

In our work together, you’ll develop new capacities to be with emotions, and release stress, resulting in a new and natural resilience you may never have felt before.

Somatic Experiencing is suitable for those that are looking for:

  • Anxiety, stress and tension management and tools

  • Trauma therapy, to resolve physiological effects of past trauma

  • Accumulated stress resolution

  • Preparation and support during a highly stressful situation

Acute stress from a threatening situation, or cumulative stress, can seriously impair a person’s ability to function with resilience and ease.
